John Heard, who played the dad in ‘Home Alone,’ dead at 72
John Heard, who played Kevin McCallister’s dad in “Home Alone,” died on Friday.
He was 72.
Heard, who was well-known for his role as Peter McCallister in the popular ‘90s “Home Alone” flicks, was reportedly found dead by a maid in a Palo Alto, Calif. hotel, the Santa Clara County Coroner’s office confirmed to Deadline.
Police were called to the hotel on a report of a medical emergency, according to TMZ.
A rep for the actor told TMZ that the star had minor back surgery on Wednesday and was recovering in a hotel.

In addition to his iconic role in “Home Alone,” Heard also starred in “Big,” “White Chicks,” “Beaches” and “The Pelican Brief,” among others.
He also appeared on TV in “The Sopranos,” “Sharknado” and “Miami Vice.”
The Washington, D.C. native revealed in 2008 that he thought he could have done more with his career.
“I sort of got sidetracked. But that’s OK, that’s all right, that’s the way it is…” he said in the 411Mania interivew. “I don’t have any regrets. Except that I could have played some bigger parts.”
In 2016, Heard told the Baltimore Media Blog that his favorite role was “Sharknado.”
“I thought it would replace people calling me the ‘Home Alone Dad,'” he said.
His cause of death is unclear at this time and the coroner is reportedly investigating, according to the gossip site.
A rep for Heard did not immediately respond to a Daily News request for comment and the Palo Alto Police forwarded The News to the Santa Clara Medical Examiner/Coroner, which did not immediately respond to calls.
